About
Great Oaks

“In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.”

Isaiah 61:3

How We Started

Great Oaks Church is a Salt Network church plant that is being started by Candeo Church in Cedar Falls, IA. The Salt Network was started in 2016 and is a family of over thirty churches partnering together to plant churches and start Salt Company ministries in university centers across our nation and the world. Several years ago, Candeo Church began exploring planting their fourth church in Mankato.

We were drawn to Mankato for two reasons. First, Mankato is a great community that is growing and Minnesota State is the second largest university in Minnesota. Second, while there are great churches and ministries in the community, we recognize a need for more churches to engage in Gospel work. In the Summer of 2024, forty one adults and ten children relocated to Mankato to help plant Great Oaks Church and start a Salt Company for the area colleges.

Our vision is to be a church for Mankato, for the next generation and for the glory of God. We desire to be a multi-generational local church that engages college students. Our prayer is that we would bless the community, reach the campus and send people out to plant new churches across our region and the world.
